1. I believe the purpose of the learning contract was to provide a long-term project that presented the students with multiple choices of assignments. It provided the students with projects in several different categories that tested the extent of their knowledge of the Spanish language, both written, verbally, and culturally.
2. I liked how we were given many choices on assignments. In particular I enjoyed recording a conversation in Spanish with four of my peers. We made it fun and very random, but we still received credit. I also liked the portion where we could listen to music. I actually found i enjoyed many of those songs.
3. I did not like all the reading and writing things, especially where I read part of a book. Reading in Spanish is not something I enjoy, but rather I like to speak it and do hands-on activities.
4. I would make it shorter so the students wouldn’t feel so burdened down with a boatload of work. It seemed like the learning contract as a whole was way to lengthy and time-consuming.
5. No. A language class is a good place for the learning contract but definitely not math or science, for example. It is a good idea for any language class though.
